Reflections – Treasures

As I slowly walk observing the ground in front of and around my feet, saying goodbye to another summer, I stop, gaze, discover, pick up, and gather. Walk a few more paces, and repeat this ritual till my hands cannot hold more without crushing the treasures I have found. You see, as a child, with rare exception, I missed out on the joys of discovering and gathering. The only “treasures” in the basement apartment we lived in were cockroaches and silverfish. The lane I played in smelled of urine when it rained. Can you understand why I am so happy?

The real treasure to me is the ability to be consciously aware of the beauty.
